I think my ABS system has lost its mind! Welcome to the Planetisuzoo Forums! ABS Codes? So I got rear ended by a Civic. He tagged me on a highway on-ramp, we were both moving forward at 40ish MPH to merge onto I and someone cut in front of me so I hit the brakes.
Civic took a lot of damage going under the Passport But he crushed up my exhaust pipe and after the wreck, the ABS light came on and stayed on. Minor denting to the bumper I figured the bent up muffler and tail pipe hit against the wiring harness and took out the rear wheel speed sensors.
I'm getting the following codes: 12 - Start of code sequence 32 - Stalled motor or Open ECU output 13 - 2wd controller in a 4wd vehicle. Unlisted 25 -???
Unlisted 32 - Again 36 -??? Unlisted 37 -??? Unlisted 78 -??? Unlisted 96 -??? Unlisted So unless, while I was exchanging insurance info with the guy, someone opened my hood and replaced my ABS control computer with a 2wd unit, but before they did that, put a 4wd sticker on the outside of it, I dunno why that code 13 is in there This is really pissing me off because none of these codes line up with missing rear wheel sensors If I can't pin it on the rear end collision, the repair doesn't get covered by the insurance.
It flashes every code 3 times and I watched the entire sequence twice Along with the flashes, you can hear a relay in or near the ABS unit click I verified the codes visually and audibly six times in total. I am sure of the code numbers. Nobody knows anything about ABS? Does anyone have a Factory Service Manual that they can leaf through?
I really need to diagnose this either so that I can get appropriate compensation from the insurance or so that I can have a properly functioning vehicle again. Re: ABS Codes? Thank you so much for posting these two ABS Codes files. I have a Rodeo LS 2wd and the previous code file I had was for the 01 and newer which have thrown me off. These are stored in response to a problem found in the car by the system. These DTC's identify a particular problem area and are intended to provide the technician with a guide as to where a fault might be occurring within the vehicle.
They're the cause for indicator light malfunction on the dashboard. Codes should be used in conjunction with the vehicle's service manual to discover which systems, circuits or components should be tested to fully diagnose the fault with a car code reader or professional OBD2 software.
Parts or components should not be replaced with reference to only a malfunctioning indicator lamp check engine fault light. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing. For example, if a DTC reports a sensor fault, replacement of the sensor is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem.
The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself. DTCs may also be triggered by faults earlier down the line.
For example, a dirty MAF sensor might be causing the car to overcompensate in its fuel-trim adjustments. As a result, oxygen sensors are likely to report fuel mixture problems. You can also access the database by downloading the printable offline version of OBD2 codes ideal for auto mechanics. TIP: This helpful resource site will reveal problem, cause, solution for every obd fault code which is picked up via computer software for car diagnostics.

You didn't mention if your truck is gas or diesel, if it is a diesel it has the Asian transmission and that transmission has 2 speed sensors for that year. I have a lot of experience with the diesel version of this truck and if you could get back to us as to which one it is it would help us narrow the possibilities.
Either version are known for wiring issues, especially to the transmission. If it is the Asian transmission and your speedometer is not working the output speed sensor that give the speedometer it's signal is on the top left of the rear of the transmission just behind the transmission mount, it's a little tricky but it will come out with out removing the mount, however I would first check that the wire and plug appear to be in good condition, there is a pigtail that has a plug at each end and they are common to rub through and also for the plugs to become brittle and the pins back out.
We look forward to hearing back from you soon and thank you for using 2CarPros! Good morning Dave.ABS Light Troubleshooting. This month was hard for the good old Amigo. Could it be metal parts from the new rotors? There is no air in the lines, the rotors are not bent, it stops fine, the fuse is intact, and it has enough fluid. What do you recommend Zooheads? Maybe the installer forget to remove the ABS "tone rings" from the old front rotors and install them on the new rotors? Will that work? I think I read one needs a special reader for this. I will crawl to check the rings. Alright, IMG done, and cleaned up the interior pretty darn good. I think I had to jump different sections, 4 and 8 I think?

This page explains how to get the codes without any special tools. The codes are listed seperately based upon fuel delivery type. The codes are defined as to what system is affected. When possible we give the more descriptive name of the component and the more commonly known OBD II component name. This information combined with proper testing procedures, specifications, and tools like a digital multimeter can help you fix the vehicle right the first time.
OBD diagnostic does not have to be difficult or inconclusive. This is not meant to be a substitute for information in the factory service manuals or the product service training manuals. If using 12Vdc circuit test lightpay careful attention to length of pauses in order to read codes correctly. Connections are displayed in image. A 2-second pause occurs between digits in a code. So thanks for that. Well there's an issue on my Isuzu Trooper I've been having for a few months now. The ABS lights comes on after about min worth of driving. Didn't really think of repairing it then due to knowing that it only means the ABS won't activate on hard braking.
Well now I'm wanting to fix the truck up and want the ABS light issue fixed. So what should I look for or how do i diagnose the issue? Is this normal to have oil on the rear speed sensors? Does this mean that I have bad rear axle seals? Once the fault is repaired the ABS lamp will turn off when the vehicle speed is greater than 8 mph. You can separate the electronic module from the hydraulic unit and send the module out for repair. The thread refers: viewtopic. After performing the ABS warning light diagnostics, I also get a code My manual says when you get that code to first perform a 'EHCU connector pinout check'. Did that and discovered a fault in the transmission input circuit - basically voltage between pins 6 and 15 is zero and there is continuity between the two pins.
I go to the transmission input inspection procedures in my manual and it tells me to 'repair the switch or harness'. Here is where I'm stuck - which switch are they referring to?
If the former is faulty, wouldn't the transmission gear indicator lights on the instrument panel be inoperative? Also, the circuit diagrams show that the wiring from this pin go to the PCM - not the trannie switch. Any help on what to do next would be most appreciated The signal is High greater than 6 VDC when the opposite is true.
Since less than 6 VDC really means ground, there is continuity between ground and ground. This failure is not related to the signal generated by the selector switch position delineated above.
